We took 1lb home to the kids. My swordfish was perfect. Would have enjoyed it with rice but we arrived bit late and they were already out. The misses had the blackened basa (mild white fish) Reuben. It must have been good because it was gone before I got a chance to try it. This NEVER happens. I would recommend this place to everyone coming to Daytona.

Wanted to go to a nearby inexpensive hometown restaurant that was reasonably-priced so I read about a few close places near our resort on yelp. After careful review we decided to go to Bay Street to check it out. The reviews were correct about most of the particulars in the diner. *Friendly and courteous staff very social down home people. Owner on site gives his own food reviews on best sellers. *Food choices can be cheap ($9.00-$12.00) but if you are hungry you can easily wind up spending 40-50 bucks tasting various items on the menu as it all sounds good. The clam chowder doesn't have thick broth, its this like soup, lots of clams but not bad or off the chain. Tried the onion rings and they were good not filled with batter and fat pieces of onions. Portions were filling but not waistful. Salmon was tender and reasonably priced. *The decor is simple and cheesy but the food and hospitality make up for the place, Dont expect fine dining venue, its a relaxed atmosphere. *Its not fresh sea food but neither is all of Red Lobsters food lol. Its a local place. Dont expect bells, whistles, and fancy plates/table settings etc. *Not far from the resorts on the beach and in a sort of remote area but its safe. Lots of locals come here. Folks from fresh sea food areas, go easy on the place :) Its worth a lunch trip.

Not much to look at inside or out, it's unpretentious, casual friendly dining emphasis on great fresh food. Went with family on a wed night at 5. Not too busy, which might have me worried, but it is a block off of 92 the main drag, and we missed it first pass. Small, maybe 10 tables. Owner I think sat us. Pretty straightforward menu. Had read other reviews , so ordered onion rings, fish dip, swordfish, and spicy boiled shrimp. Onion rings indeed were very good and fresh. Betting breaded to order. Was told fish dip was pompano and I forgot. Damn, it was good. Seemed to get better the more I ate. I should mention I wasn't really hungry going in with family, but got hungry after tasting things. Kids had blackened swordfish, which was recommended as he slices to order. It was fantastic. No doubt. The boiled shrimp cooked perfectly and just the right spice. Wife also had chowder, great flavor and clans, though slightly on the thin side. Even French fries were hot and fresh, nice crisp outside, cooked in fresh oil. Negatives? I judge based on what they try to be. This is not fine dining on the water, just fresh seafood, casual place and friendly folks at affordable prices. Nailed it.

Came here last Thursday for lunch and my husband and I had a great meal! The woman at the counter was so nice and welcoming as we took our time figuring out what to order. My husband ordered a fried seafood combo platter which came with lots of stuff (fried fish, fried oysters, fried shrimp, fried clams, crab cake). We liked everything that came with it, but our least favorite was the crab cake. The onions rings are simply delicious! Light and crispy. I ordered the spicy steamed shrimp for myself. It was a little on the salty side, but it was still really good dipped in butter and the lemon helped tone down the saltiness, too. We had a side of pasta salad but I wasn't really feeling the flavor of that. Great food and great value.

Nothing fancy for sure, but very good seafood. The Mahi serving was large, and the Scallops were great. Onion rings were awesome. Great tasting clam chowder but a bit thin. Salmon was good too. I do have to say that I'm not sure why the "Fresh Catch" is a farmed fish, when you're mere blocks from the Ocean. Other than that, this place is good for what it is. A small, local, no frills place that cooks some good fish.

As everyone else has stated, the onion rings are very good- thin, crispy. Food made to order. My shrimp were butterflied & light. Fish was a bit over cooked. My husband's fish Reuben was reportedly tasty (I can't do the fish & cheese thing...) I'd recommend it for a quick, no frills, enjoyable lunch stop.

Okay food. We started with the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were not very good, they were pretty greasy. I ordered the lobster hogie i didnt rewlly like it. It's not the exterior that's going to impress you, all the goodness is inside. You will immediately see why this place is so popular as soon as you walk through the door. It's not a big restaurant and if you're looking for a sit down formal experience you may just want to save this stop for another time. This is simple seafood served up fresh and hot by extremely friendly owners. By the time you get through reading most of the reviews I'm sure you've checked out the photos so you should know what to expect. Although I was disappointed to see the seafood case empty and that they no longer offer fresh seafood to take home due to the growth of their restaurant business, I am happy to see they've found their niche and the business is thriving. I also love the fact that they advertise their selection of fish offerings honestly so you know exactly what you're being served another example of their honest business ethics.

When you go to the beach you want seafood, right? So while in Daytona for the afternoon I checked Yelp and decided on Bay Street. First of all, it was a little hard to find. Why? Because it is a tiny hole in the wall place, right next to a furniture store. I was expecting something bigger. Also, it is very close to what looks like a jail or courthouse? That was a bit disconcerting, but still, we pressed on. It was really slow when we arrived. There was one family eating inside and another outside. I wasn't really sure if we should order at the counter or not, but luckily the waitress came to our table to take our orders. We started with the coconut shrimp. They were large shrimp and came with a really good pepper jelly. For my meal I ordered the fried scallops. They were large scallops and were very good. They were served in a basket with paper, so the grease did collect a bit. I ended up adding napkins to try to blot the oil, but the bottoms still ended up soggy. I also had the onion rings, because my New Years resolutions hadn't kicked in yet. I liked the onion rings, but my kids weren't crazy about them. They were better with ketchup. While we were dining there was an interesting stream of customers that came in (mostly placing to-go orders). Our server commented that they had a lot of business from people waiting at the court across the street. Um... So yeah, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I don't think I would go back. From the reviews I get that this is a place the locals really love, but quite honestly I think I'd be better off with something a bit more touristy.

Bay Street might be a hole in the wall with backyard plastic chairs & paper towels but the food is delicious! I had the eight piece shrimp dinner. My succulent shrimp were large, butterflied and golden brown. Our party also had grilled scallops which were the size of a 50 cent piece, fish fried to perfection and a bountiful burger. Although Bay Street does offer grilled seafood for a slightly higher price, the veggie selection is non-existent. So think of this as your cheat day (and get ready to work out afterwards). Compliments for the fries, onion rings and especially the sweet fried green tomatoes. The black beans and Mediterranean style cucumber salad (in a sour cream dill sauce sweetened with sugar) were just okay. When I'm in the area, I'll definitely return!

I had a super salty inedible sandwich that came with a horrible oily fried pickles. I am amazed to see all the great five star reviews. What are these people thinking and where do they come from to think this place is one of the best seafood places? I live in New York City where I experienced all kinds of taste and flavors. I am also a great cook with good senses of what is considered good cooking and/or preparing food. I regret the money I spent on a trashy, overly salted, Walmart bun grouper sandwich. Never again. I will research if Daytona's Department of Health monitors salt use. Unhealthy place.

Bay Street Seafood does not disappoint! Everything is fresh and fabulous! The spicy shrimp were large and flavorful. Both the blackened swordfish and mahi were the best I've ever tasted. The onion rings are lightly battered and fried. Sweet tea is brewed, not instant and don't forget to try the homemade key lime pie for dessert. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant is super clean! Give this place a try if you are in the area. Tuesday and Friday nights seem to be the busiest. Try to get there early for dinner.

Well where should I start. The food was good without a doubt, but it was better going down then coming back up. My son and I came down with the stomach flu. I tried his fish as soon as it hit the table. Lucky for us this is a 9 day vacation and we could afford to lose a day to hugging the cheek seat. We asked the owner for his recommendations and he said, "Basa and shrimp." We assumed basa was a local fish. As we ate it, we googled it. It turns out that basa are farmed along the Mekong River in Vietnam. This area is reportedly renowned for having high levels of waste, heavy metals, and other toxins in the water. It's the cheapest fish available. We were so disappointed. We thought we were getting a fresh-catch-of-the-day. It turns out we got cheap, imported fish. It was our fault as we should have asked more questions. The onion rings and shrimp were good. Very good. Service was excellent. The place has a certain seaside charm that we really liked. Afterwards, we walked up and down the charming main street and enjoyed looking in store windows. Nice, cheap date night.

Great little hidden spot off the beaten path but worth it. Don't be scared by the outside appearance. Get the coconut shrimp. Big enough to count as a meal and crazy good. No stars. We found the spot today. It's bike week and we are visiting. They close at 8pm per sign and yelp, but when we came in at 730pm they told us they were closed and had all food pulled already! Laid back. The onion rings are a little different than most places make them, and they are TO DIE FOR. I much prefer the way these guys prepare them than that of the average restaurant. The fried haddock portion was ridiculously generous. Many in my party got the fish bites and raved about them. The owners were very personable and great with our kids as well. We got here 10 minutes before they are about to close (hewww~ we needed some good food after being on the road for a while). Lady owner was friendly and answered my questions and I ended up getting the blackened basa (special of the day $6 or $7) sandwich with fries. SO YUMM!! The blackened seasoning usually means a bit burnt but this time, it wasn't and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. So tender and it really goes well with the bread. It came with raw onion, lettuce and tomato). Boyfriend got the grilled salmon. I think it was only so-so. He loved the onion rings though. we got it to go, but seems like a lot of regulars dining in the restaurant.

I went there because of the amazing reviews but I was highly disappointed! I got the crab cake dinner which comes with two crab cakes and looked delicious, but on the contrary, they were loaded with salt and spiciness. I can handle the spicy, but the salt just made me feel like my blood pressure was rising with every bite. I couldn't even eat my second crab cake. I also got the sweet tea, but it is ridiculously loaded with sugar. I am southern and appreciate an extra sweet tea but this was just way too much. I have now been here twice...and this 2nd time was definitely the last.

Delicious prepared -to -order seafood! They have only a few tables but they do a brisk takeout business. The takeout orders can sometimes tie up the servers so ask for anything you'll need when you order because appearances at table side are not frequent. The servers stay busy though! We dined in and ordered the fish nuggets and a fried seafood platter with onion rings and fries ... more than enough to divvy up between 2 adults and 2 kids and it came out fast too. The restaurant is small and every table was occupied. After waiting at the front for a few minutes, a waitress asked us if we wanted to eat outside. There is a quaint little side yard with patio tables and we were happy to eat outside since it was the perfect night for it. 3 of us ordered fried shrimp, and it was fresh & delicious. The other ordered salmon, which was also fresh. It felt like we waited a pretty long time for our food, and I'm not sure if that's because they were busy or the waitress forgot about us since we were outside. But the food more than made up for it, and we will definitely be back. This hole in the wall seafood restaurant isn't on the beach but it was very fresh and yummy!

Discovered this via urbanspoon whose reviewers were higher than here. I agree with them. First, this is a family-owned business. That's important when I go to eat. The owners and staff are friendly and real. The spicy shrimp or deep fried is great. The onion rings are home made and if you get a large order--you'll probably need help to eat all of them. I heard their fish Reuben was great but to be honest none of us have had it. It appears to be a popular item on the menu because every time we are there we see people ordering it. This place is anything but fancy. Kitchen style tables and plastic chairs. Indoor and outdoor seating. If you have a large party, be prepared to wait for your food. We often have 10 or 12 people. Our meals take time to get, but everyone gets their food at the same time and it is hot. This is by far our favorite restaurant to eat while in Daytona. We are there 2 or 3 times a year and we eat there as often as we can.

Salmon is always cooked perfectly, and portions are large. Showed up at approximately 6:30pm with our party of 8. There were two four-top tables open, so I moved them together. As I waited for the rest of my group to walk in from the car, I was asked how many were in my group and then told that I needed to separate the tables. When I asked for an explanation, the server just walked away. When she came back by, we were all there and when I asked why we couldn't push the tables together, she said that they have to stay in a certain spot or they will be wobbly. She walked away again as I asked what she recommended we do if we wanted to sit together. At this point, as we are all standing around, another server tells us that "it will be an hour wait for food anyway". I find this hard to believe since there are literally only 8-10 tables in the whole place and everyone in there had food already. They clearly did not want our business, so we took it elsewhere. Maybe it was because we have three children? I've never heard of a restaurant that didn't want you to move tables because they will wobble. Who hasn't had to stick a sugar packet under a table leg before?!?! Plenty of other great seafood places in the area, I won't be spending my hard earned money on people that are rude!

This is a great little place on Bay Street. My husband and I came in for dinner very hungry and left very satisfied! It's a little "mom and pop" place that has maybe 8 tables. When you walk in you can smell the fish cooking! It's nothing fancy, just good food! I had the clam chowder and fried oysters with onion rings and the cucumber salad. The chowder, honestly, wasn't anything special, wasn't bad, but I wouldn't get it again. It's not a thick creamy chowder that I like, but it's loaded with fresh clams. The oysters were HUGE! I choose the 8 piece (also comes in 12) and one was the size of my palm, and I don't have small dainty hands lol. They weren't greasy and tasted very fresh. The onion rings were good, but they were very greasy, I only are half. The cucumber salad was a refreshing blend of sliced cucumbers in a Greek yogurt dill sauce. My husband got the spicy steamed shrimp. They are steamed in spicy ol'bay seasoning and served with cocktail sauce and drawn butter. The only reason why I didn't give them a full 5 star raining is because I wanted the food to have more flavor. The chowder and cucumbers were very bland. Also, I like to dip my onion rings in ranch and the ranch they had was hidden valley. I would come back and just get the fried oysters and steamed shrimp!

This is a local place in downtown Daytona, family owned and family operated. I can't say anything bad about this spot as even the bathrooms are super clean and nice. My mother and I traveled together to Daytona Beach for a graduation and used Yelp to guide our dining adventures. We picked this restaurant for 3 reasons: 1.) We wanted seafood 2.) The two reviews were very complimentary 3). We were famished and Bay Street was close. We arrived at Bay Street Seafood Market & Grill on a late Friday afternoon in May. We had no trouble finding a table as the place was mostly empty. Upon walking in it's obvious that customers are to place their order at the counter, pay, and then have a seat. Everything on the menu sounded good and I had trouble deciding what I wanted. Thankfully, the woman behind the counter was very nice and didn't even seem bothered by my string of questions. She told us about the most popular selections and then she recommended the fish Rubin. We both order the Rubin although I ordered my fish grilled and my mother ordered blackened. The sandwich comes with one side. My mother and I both wanted onion rings but I ordered the pasta salad so that we could taste and share two sides. We also ordered a slice of key lime pie to share. When my mother sees key lime pie on a menu she usually ends up ordering it. Needless to say, it's one of her favorite desserts. The food is made to order. In fact, the kitchen and grill is right behind the counter giving the opportunity to see your food being prepared! When our food was ready the woman who took our order brought it to our table. My Rubin was fabulous! The fish tasted fresh and the slaw on top had great flavor. The marble bread was toasted and had a wonder texture. The onion rings were thin, almost string-like and very tasty too. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the pasta salad because it was very plain. The key lime pie was very good. My mother commented that she was pretty sure it was made with REAL key limes. We ate every bite! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty fish sandwiches, friendly service, and good key lime pie. Skip the pasta salad and go with the onion rings.

The seafood was fantastic and fresh and the service was friendly! I love little hole in the wall, low key restaurants so this was perfect. Small, local, and one of a kind!

Fantastic. Been here twice in the last month and both times the service and food were excellent. This isn't a fancy uptight restaurant but it's a casual beach atmosphere, so put on your shorts and sandals. The fried shrimp are delicious and the fried oysters are as good, if not better than Oyster Pub. The staff are friendly and attentive. The portions and prices are reasonble. I will definitely be eating here on a regular basis. Did I mention the fried shrimp? Worth mentioning twice !!

Excellent food in a casual atmosphere, you order and pay before you get your food. Fried oysters and shrimp were straight-up, just like I like them. The haddock was perfectly prepared too. The best onion rings and creamy slaw give this spot an A+. Top it off with key lime pie prepared by our server's mother, and it's all good. We like for fish to taste like fish, so this is the place to go if that is your preference. Nothing gourmet or fancy here-just good food and lots of it!

I think this place is family owned so It gives me no pleasure writing this review. I had the grouper. It looked miserable in a pool of some butter grease mixture. I could spend 15 paragraphs on that piece of fish but just take it from someone that loves food. IT SUCKED. My rice was a 2 ounce portion packed with 20000 grams of sodium. The best part about my meal was the pasta salad. I highly recommend it! On another positive note my beer was cold. If you value your health do not get anything fried, unless you like grease flavor. One last thing. If you are really lucky a man with 2 billion stains on his shirt will bring you your food and say " I need a beer" if this place survives another day I will be shocked.

This is a spot for folks looking for perfectly cooked fish and seafood. The atmosphere and seating are minimal. You order at the counter and your remarkable meal is cooked fresh and delivered in minutes. Don't come expecting a wide variety of fish, these folks only use what's really fresh, or a tremendous variety of styles. Just know that what they do they do really well. Great shrimp salad, clam chowder, crab cakes, and blackened fish, not to mention fabulously crispy onion rings. When I was in the area I used to get lunch there at least once a week. Took my kids to lunch there a couple of weeks ago and was reminded just how good it is.

We were visiting Daytona during the Daytona 500 and we were looking for a good local restaurant. The reviews on Bay Street were some of the better reviews we saw and the Fish Reuben looked interesting. I ordered the Fish Reuben and my husband ordered the Hot Wings. My sandwich was good, the coleslaw on it was very sweet, but the fish was a little bland overall the sandwich was okay, nothing special. The fries were hot and fresh. My husband got the Hot Wings (he is very picky about wings) and he said they were very good but the sauce is really spicy even for him who loves hot wings. This place was pricey for the quality of food and the servings are average. However the cashier was friendly and the restaurant itself is like a small, ocean themed diner and it is clean. It is a nice little place to stop for lunch and you can walk around to shops nearby.

We're always looking for a great seafood restaurant in Daytona Beach and after many years have found it. Hubby loves crabcakes and these are made from claw meat, almost entirely crab in the cake and delightfully seasoned. You get two very large crabcakes in the dinner which is reasonably priced (especially compared to Billy's). I love shrimp, scallops and grouper, all of which are delicious. We go there nearly once per week which is saying a lot since we only go out to eat once a week lately. The atmosphere is very laid back, the only drawback is the plastic chairs (our old bones need cushions). I highly recommend this place, we take our relatives there when in town. Everything is freshly made and delicious and the price is right! Bon appetite!

The best seafood. Our hotel manager recommended it and so glad he did. Easily could have driven by without seeing it, but soooo good. I had the blackened mahi mahi sandwich and my husband had deep fried salmon chunks with a sweet chili sauce. It's not on the menu but it's amazing. Wife/I arrived late 6p. Decor is definitively touristy, lots of colorful fish. Ordered the 1/2 of steamed peal and eat shrimp in bay seasoning. It was delicious and messy! We took 1lb home to the kids. My swordfish was perfect. Would have enjoyed it with rice but we arrived bit late and they were already out. The misses had the blackened basa (mild white fish) Reuben. It must have been good because it was gone before I got a chance to try it. This NEVER happens. I would recommend this place to everyone coming to Daytona.

Wanted to go to a nearby inexpensive hometown restaurant that was reasonably-priced so I read about a few close places near our resort on yelp. After careful review we decided to go to Bay Street to check it out. The reviews were correct about most of the particulars in the diner. *Friendly and courteous staff very social down home people. Owner on site gives his own food reviews on best sellers. *Food choices can be cheap ($9.00-$12.00) but if you are hungry you can easily wind up spending 40-50 bucks tasting various items on the menu as it all sounds good. The clam chowder doesn't have thick broth, its this like soup, lots of clams but not bad or off the chain. Tried the onion rings and they were good not filled with batter and fat pieces of onions. Portions were filling but not waistful. Salmon was tender and reasonably priced. *The decor is simple and cheesy but the food and hospitality make up for the place, Dont expect fine dining venue, its a relaxed atmosphere. *Its not fresh sea food but neither is all of Red Lobsters food lol. Its a local place. Dont expect bells, whistles, and fancy plates/table settings etc. *Not far from the resorts on the beach and in a sort of remote area but its safe. Lots of locals come here. Folks from fresh sea food areas, go easy on the place :) Its worth a lunch trip.

Great fresh seafood at affordable prices in casual surroundings. Really loved this place. One of the best I've found in the last 35 years. Not much to look at inside or out, it's unpretentious, casual friendly dining emphasis on great fresh food. Went with family on a wed night at 5. Not too busy, which might have me worried, but it is a block off of 92 the main drag, and we missed it first pass. Small, maybe 10 tables. Owner I think sat us. Pretty straightforward menu. Had read other reviews , so ordered onion rings, fish dip, swordfish, and spicy boiled shrimp. Onion rings indeed were very good and fresh. Betting breaded to order. Was told fish dip was pompano and I forgot. Damn, it was good. Seemed to get better the more I ate. I should mention I wasn't really hungry going in with family, but got hungry after tasting things. Kids had blackened swordfish, which was recommended as he slices to order. It was fantastic. No doubt. The boiled shrimp cooked perfectly and just the right spice. Wife also had chowder, great flavor and clans, though slightly on the thin side. Even French fries were hot and fresh, nice crisp outside, cooked in fresh oil. Negatives? I judge based on what they try to be. This is not fine dining on the water, just fresh seafood, casual place and friendly folks at affordable prices. Nailed it.

Came here last Thursday for lunch and my husband and I had a great meal! The woman at the counter was so nice and welcoming as we took our time figuring out what to order. My husband ordered a fried seafood combo platter which came with lots of stuff (fried fish, fried oysters, fried shrimp, fried clams, crab cake). We liked everything that came with it, but our least favorite was the crab cake. The onions rings are simply delicious! Light and crispy. I ordered the spicy steamed shrimp for myself. It was a little on the salty side, but it was still really good dipped in butter and the lemon helped tone down the saltiness, too. We had a side of pasta salad but I wasn't really feeling the flavor of that. Great food and great value.

Nothing fancy for sure, but very good seafood. The Mahi serving was large, and the Scallops were great. Onion rings were awesome. Great tasting clam chowder but a bit thin. Salmon was good too. I do have to say that I'm not sure why the "Fresh Catch" is a farmed fish, when you're mere blocks from the Ocean. Other than that, this place is good for what it is. A small, local, no frills place that cooks some good fish.

As everyone else has stated, the onion rings are very good- thin, crispy. Food made to order. My shrimp were butterflied & light. Fish was a bit over cooked. My husband's fish Reuben was reportedly tasty (I can't do the fish & cheese thing...) I'd recommend it for a quick, no frills, enjoyable lunch stop.

Okay food. We started with the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were not very good, they were pretty greasy. I ordered the lobster hogie i didnt rewlly like it. It's not the exterior that's going to impress you, all the goodness is inside. You will immediately see why this place is so popular as soon as you walk through the door. It's not a big restaurant and if you're looking for a sit down formal experience you may just want to save this stop for another time. This is simple seafood served up fresh and hot by extremely friendly owners. By the time you get through reading most of the reviews I'm sure you've checked out the photos so you should know what to expect. Although I was disappointed to see the seafood case empty and that they no longer offer fresh seafood to take home due to the growth of their restaurant business, I am happy to see they've found their niche and the business is thriving. When you go to the beach you want seafood, right? So while in Daytona for the afternoon I checked Yelp and decided on Bay Street. First of all, it was a little hard to find. Why? Because it is a tiny hole in the wall place, right next to a furniture store. I was expecting something bigger. Also, it is very close to what looks like a jail or courthouse? That was a bit disconcerting, but still, we pressed on. It was really slow when we arrived. There was one family eating inside and another outside. I wasn't really sure if we should order at the counter or not, but luckily the waitress came to our table to take our orders. We started with the coconut shrimp. They were large shrimp and came with a really good pepper jelly. For my meal I ordered the fried scallops. They were large scallops and were very good. They were served in a basket with paper, so the grease did collect a bit. I ended up adding napkins to try to blot the oil, but the bottoms still ended up soggy. I also had the onion rings, because my New Years resolutions hadn't kicked in yet. I liked the onion rings, but my kids weren't crazy about them. They were better with ketchup. While we were dining there was an interesting stream of customers that came in (mostly placing to-go orders). Our server commented that they had a lot of business from people waiting at the court across the street. Um... So yeah, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I don't think I would go back. From the reviews I get that this is a place the locals really love, but quite honestly I think I'd be better off with something a bit more touristy.

Bay Street might be a hole in the wall with backyard plastic chairs & paper towels but the food is delicious! I had the eight piece shrimp dinner. My succulent shrimp were large, butterflied and golden brown. Our party also had grilled scallops which were the size of a 50 cent piece, fish fried to perfection and a bountiful burger. Although Bay Street does offer grilled seafood for a slightly higher price, the veggie selection is non-existent. So think of this as your cheat day (and get ready to work out afterwards). Compliments for the fries, onion rings and especially the sweet fried green tomatoes. The black beans and Mediterranean style cucumber salad (in a sour cream dill sauce sweetened with sugar) were just okay. When I'm in the area, I'll definitely return!

I had a super salty inedible sandwich that came with a horrible oily fried pickles. I am amazed to see all the great five star reviews. What are these people thinking and where do they come from to think this place is one of the best seafood places? I live in New York City where I experienced all kinds of taste and flavors. I am also a great cook with good senses of what is considered good cooking and/or preparing food. I regret the money I spent on a trashy, overly salted, Walmart bun grouper sandwich. Never again. I will research if Daytona's Department of Health monitors salt use. Unhealthy place.

Bay Street Seafood does not disappoint! Everything is fresh and fabulous! The spicy shrimp were large and flavorful. Both the blackened swordfish and mahi were the best I've ever tasted. The onion rings are lightly battered and fried. Sweet tea is brewed, not instant and don't forget to try the homemade key lime pie for dessert. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant is super clean! Give this place a try if you are in the area. Tuesday and Friday nights seem to be the busiest. Try to get there early for dinner.

Well where should I start. The food was good without a doubt, but it was better going down then coming back up. My son and I came down with the stomach flu. I tried his fish as soon as it hit the table. Lucky for us this is a 9 day vacation and we could afford to lose a day to hugging the cheek seat. We asked the owner for his recommendations and he said, "Basa and shrimp." We assumed basa was a local fish. As we ate it, we googled it. It turns out that basa are farmed along the Mekong River in Vietnam. This area is reportedly renowned for having high levels of waste, heavy metals, and other toxins in the water. It's the cheapest fish available. We were so disappointed. We thought we were getting a fresh-catch-of-the-day. It turns out we got cheap, imported fish. It was our fault as we should have asked more questions. The onion rings and shrimp were good. Very good. Service was excellent. The place has a certain seaside charm that we really liked. Afterwards, we walked up and down the charming main street and enjoyed looking in store windows. Nice, cheap date night.

Great little hidden spot off the beaten path but worth it. Don't be scared by the outside appearance. Get the coconut shrimp. Big enough to count as a meal and crazy good. Dipping sauce is perfect as well. Pasta salad is a great side and the grilled fish Reuben was a big hit with my wife. Sweet tea is a must...not to sweet...just right. No stars. We found the spot today. It's bike week and we are visiting. They close at 8pm per sign and yelp, but when we came in at 730pm they told us they were closed and had all food pulled already! I don't give out 5 star reviews unless the place is stupid good... I love this place. A gem. It's rare to find a place like this. Unassuming, friendly people, great food, reasonable prices. Laid back. The onion rings are a little different than most places make them, and they are TO DIE FOR. I much prefer the way these guys prepare them than that of the average restaurant. The fried haddock portion was ridiculously generous. Many in my party got the fish bites and raved about them. The owners were very personable and great with our kids as well. Bay Street is a do not miss if you're in Daytona. Fantastic.

We got here 10 minutes before they are about to close (hewww~ we needed some good food after being on the road for a while). Lady owner was friendly and answered my questions and I ended up getting the blackened basa (special of the day $6 or $7) sandwich with fries. SO YUMM!! The blackened seasoning usually means a bit burnt but this time, it wasn't and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. So tender and it really goes well with the bread. It came with raw onion, lettuce and tomato). Boyfriend got the grilled salmon. I think it was only so-so. He loved the onion rings though. we got it to go, but seems like a lot of regulars dining in the restaurant.

I went there because of the amazing reviews but I was highly disappointed! I got the crab cake dinner which comes with two crab cakes and looked delicious, but on the contrary, they were loaded with salt and spiciness. I can handle the spicy, but the salt just made me feel like my blood pressure was rising with every bite. I couldn't even eat my second crab cake. I also got the sweet tea, but it is ridiculously loaded with sugar. I am southern and appreciate an extra sweet tea but this was just way too much. I have now been here twice...and this 2nd time was definitely the last.

Delicious prepared -to -order seafood! They have only a few tables but they do a brisk takeout business. The takeout orders can sometimes tie up the servers so ask for anything you'll need when you order because appearances at table side are not frequent. The servers stay busy though! We dined in and ordered the fish nuggets and a fried seafood platter with onion rings and fries ... more than enough to divvy up between 2 adults and 2 kids and it came out fast too. Love this place! $47 with the addition of 4 Coronas and 2 kid drinks.

On a search for fresh seafood, we decided to give this place a try after reading good reviews. The reviews were right on, and we all loved our food. The restaurant is small and every table was occupied. After waiting at the front for a few minutes, a waitress asked us if we wanted to eat outside. There is a quaint little side yard with patio tables and we were happy to eat outside since it was the perfect night for it. 3 of us ordered fried shrimp, and it was fresh & delicious. The other ordered salmon, which was also fresh. It felt like we waited a pretty long time for our food, and I'm not sure if that's because they were busy or the waitress forgot about us since we were outside. But the food more than made up for it, and we will definitely be back. This hole in the wall seafood restaurant isn't on the beach but it was very fresh and yummy!

Service and atmosphere was laid back, relaxing, & friendly. Best homemade sweet tea and fish dip in town! Gator bites and shrimp w/onion rings were delish! Definitely my new favorite little spot in Daytona Beach!

This place is awesome! Stopped here with my family when in Daytona for this year'a spring break. The seafood is very fresh and the menu has a good amount of options. They key lime is to die for, just as old as key lime pie from the keys! Only warning is that the place is small, so seating is can be very limited! Discovered this via urbanspoon whose reviewers were higher than here. I agree with them. First, this is a family-owned business. That's important when I go to eat. The owners and staff are friendly and real. The spicy shrimp or deep fried is great. The onion rings are home made and if you get a large order--you'll probably need help to eat all of them. I heard their fish Reuben was great but to be honest none of us have had it. It appears to be a popular item on the menu because every time we are there we see people ordering it. This place is anything but fancy. Kitchen style tables and plastic chairs. Indoor and outdoor seating. If you have a large party, be prepared to wait for your food. We often have 10 or 12 people. Our meals take time to get, but everyone gets their food at the same time and it is hot. This is by far our favorite restaurant to eat while in Daytona. We are there 2 or 3 times a year and we eat there as often as we can.

This is the kind of place that Yelpers love! It's off the beaten path, family owned, cheap & flipping delicious! The owners are so friendly- they are from Ohio & Michigan, same as my fiancé & I. I had the blackened basa and the steamed shrimp. It was so damn good! I am returning to the area today for business and can go anywhere, but I am returning here. It's like eating at someone's house for dinner- the owner chit chatted with me the whole time. It's been a few months since I've been here & I bet she will remember me! Do yourself a favor & head over for a great, delicious, cheap & quick meal!

My Gawd this place is good! Would be five stars if it was just a bit less pricey. Not overpriced, but not something many Daytona locals can afford except for occasions. Salmon is always cooked perfectly, and portions are large. Fried Oysters, the best I've had, as are all their fried foods-- the quality of the onion rings and fries nearly make up for their health risks. I avoid fried foods most of the time, but this place does them right. Great staff, simple ambiance. Perfect, if unhealthy and pricey food. My Gawd this place is good!! Review based on a dozen visits over six years.

Showed up at approximately 6:30pm with our party of 8. There were two four-top tables open, so I moved them together. As I waited for the rest of my group to walk in from the car, I was asked how many were in my group and then told that I needed to separate the tables. When I asked for an explanation, the server just walked away. When she came back by, we were all there and when I asked why we couldn't push the tables together, she said that they have to stay in a certain spot or they will be wobbly. She walked away again as I asked what she recommended we do if we wanted to sit together. At this point, as we are all standing around, another server tells us that "it will be an hour wait for food anyway". I find this hard to believe since there are literally only 8-10 tables in the whole place and everyone in there had food already. They clearly did not want our business, so we took it elsewhere. Maybe it was because we have three children? I've never heard of a restaurant that didn't want you to move tables because they will wobble. Who hasn't had to stick a sugar packet under a table leg before?!?! Plenty of other great seafood places in the area, I won't be spending my hard earned money on people that are rude!

All I have to say is WOW I got their crab cake sandwich with the homemade battered onion rings and was completely satisfied. My boyfriend and I were close to turning right back around by the looks of the outside but sure glad we didn't excellent!! And we waited MAYBE 10 min for our food the place was packed. Very very impressive, and we will be returning!!!

We loved the food! The clam chowder was very tasty. It was not thick but had lots of clams. I would recommend the fish Reuben made with cole slaw. The flavor was excellent. Appeared to be a lot of local customers. Order at the counter but staff were friendly and timely. The fried green tomatoes were tasty. I would recommend the food but the iced tea was average.

This is a great little place on Bay Street. My husband and I came in for dinner very hungry and left very satisfied! It's a little "mom and pop" place that has maybe 8 tables. When you walk in you can smell the fish cooking! It's nothing fancy, just good food! I had the clam chowder and fried oysters with onion rings and the cucumber salad. The chowder, honestly, wasn't anything special, wasn't bad, but I wouldn't get it again. It's not a thick creamy chowder that I like, but it's loaded with fresh clams. The oysters were HUGE! I choose the 8 piece (also comes in 12) and one was the size of my palm, and I don't have small dainty hands lol. They weren't greasy and tasted very fresh. The onion rings were good, but they were very greasy, I only are half. The cucumber salad was a refreshing blend of sliced cucumbers in a Greek yogurt dill sauce. My husband got the spicy steamed shrimp. They are steamed in spicy ol'bay seasoning and served with cocktail sauce and drawn butter. The only reason why I didn't give them a full 5 star raining is because I wanted the food to have more flavor. The chowder and cucumbers were very bland. Also, I like to dip my onion rings in ranch and the ranch they had was hidden valley. I would come back and just get the fried oysters and steamed shrimp!

We stopped in while on vacation. After reading the reviews, we figured it was worth a try. While it doesn't look like much on the outside, the food was excellent. We had the grilled and blackened grouper sandwiches, which were both great. Dirty rice and onion rings were both very good, but the fries were nothing special...just frozen. Overall, the service and the food definitely make it worth the trip.

Excellent food and great service. The crab cheese dip was super yummy. I had the blackened grouper. It was cooked perfectly and was very fresh. Hubby had the steamed shrimp. They were very fresh and cooked and seasoned well. My son had the seafood platter. It was huge. The fried shrimp were spectacular.

This is a local place in downtown Daytona, family owned and family operated. I can't say anything bad about this spot as even the bathrooms are super clean and nice. The sweet tea is just damn amazing and the food is way better than what you think it will be. Fish over dirty rice, OMGEEEEE... So good. I've even had the fried shrimp and its was VERY good and FLAVORFUL, I was blown away by how good the fried shrimp was. If you are in Daytona vacationing, ditch all the other places and go where ALL the locals go, Bay Street.

This place is unbelievably delicious! I had the Basa (fish) sandwich and it was so good! I couldn't believe how good the sandwich was. Also, the meal was a great size and you will not leave hungry. Basa is a seasonal fish, I believe, so look for this sandwich on the catch of the day menu or ask them for something similar. That sandwich was like heaven. I wish I could eat it everyday. It's amazing and words cannot explain it at all.

This place is absolutely fabulous!!! Had a grilled swordfish sandwich and wife had fish / shrimp combo . . . It is some of the best seafood Ive ever had (and I have lived in Myrtle Beach and Charleston areas for much of my life). This is a must do if in Daytona. It is a little hole in the wall but it us worth it - gotta do it. Service was very friendly and casual . . . Our compliments to everyone for a great meal :)

My mother and I traveled together to Daytona Beach for a graduation and used Yelp to guide our dining adventures. We picked this restaurant for 3 reasons: 1.) We wanted seafood 2.) The two reviews were very complimentary 3). We were famished and Bay Street was close. We arrived at Bay Street Seafood Market & Grill on a late Friday afternoon in May. We had no trouble finding a table as the place was mostly empty. Upon walking in it's obvious that customers are to place their order at the counter, pay, and then have a seat. Everything on the menu sounded good and I had trouble deciding what I wanted. Thankfully, the woman behind the counter was very nice and didn't even seem bothered by my string of questions. She told us about the most popular selections and then she recommended the fish Rubin. We both order the Rubin although I ordered my fish grilled and my mother ordered blackened. The sandwich comes with one side. My mother and I both wanted onion rings but I ordered the pasta salad so that we could taste and share two sides. We also ordered a slice of key lime pie to share. When my mother sees key lime pie on a menu she usually ends up ordering it. Needless to say, it's one of her favorite desserts. The food is made to order. In fact, the kitchen and grill is right behind the counter giving the opportunity to see your food being prepared! When our food was ready the woman who took our order brought it to our table. My Rubin was fabulous! The fish tasted fresh and the slaw on top had great flavor. The marble bread was toasted and had a wonder texture. The onion rings were thin, almost string-like and very tasty too. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the pasta salad because it was very plain. The key lime pie was very good. My mother commented that she was pretty sure it was made with REAL key limes. We ate every bite! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for tasty fish sandwiches, friendly service, and good key lime pie. Skip the pasta salad and go with the onion rings.

Fantastic. Been here twice in the last month and both times the service and food were excellent. This isn't a fancy uptight restaurant but it's a casual beach atmosphere, so put on your shorts and sandals. The fried shrimp are delicious and the fried oysters are as good, if not better than Oyster Pub. The staff are friendly and attentive. The portions and prices are reasonble. I will definitely be eating here on a regular basis. Did I mention the fried shrimp? Worth mentioning twice !!

Excellent food in a casual atmosphere, you order and pay before you get your food. Fried oysters and shrimp were straight-up, just like I like them. The haddock was perfectly prepared too. The best onion rings and creamy slaw give this spot an A+. Top it off with key lime pie prepared by our server's mother, and it's all good. We like for fish to taste like fish, so this is the place to go if that is your preference. Nothing gourmet or fancy here-just good food and lots of it!

Bay Street serves up a small but excellent menu of fish and is usually bustling with local business at lunchtime - always a good sign. I tend to get the blackened basa on rice pilaf but the fish sandwiches are good, too. Personable service. Great prices. Comfy, no-frills local vibe.

I think this place is family owned so It gives me no pleasure writing this review. I had the grouper. It looked miserable in a pool of some butter grease mixture. I could spend 15 paragraphs on that piece of fish but just take it from someone that loves food. IT SUCKED. My rice was a 2 ounce portion packed with 20000 grams of sodium. The best part about my meal was the pasta salad. I highly recommend it! On another positive note my beer was cold. If you value your health do not get anything fried, unless you like grease flavor. One last thing. If you are really lucky a man with 2 billion stains on his shirt will bring you your food and say " I need a beer" if this place survives another day I will be shocked.

This is a spot for folks looking for perfectly cooked fish and seafood. The atmosphere and seating are minimal. You order at the counter and your remarkable meal is cooked fresh and delivered in minutes. Don't come expecting a wide variety of fish, these folks only use what's really fresh, or a tremendous variety of styles. Just know that what they do they do really well. Great shrimp salad, clam chowder, crab cakes, and blackened fish, not to mention fabulously crispy onion rings. When I was in the area I used to get lunch there at least once a week. Took my kids to lunch there a couple of weeks ago and was reminded just how good it is.

We were visiting Daytona during the Daytona 500 and we were looking for a good local restaurant. The reviews on Bay Street were some of the better reviews we saw and the Fish Reuben looked interesting. I ordered the Fish Reuben and my husband ordered the Hot Wings. My sandwich was good, the coleslaw on it was very sweet, but the fish was a little bland overall the sandwich was okay, nothing special. The fries were hot and fresh. My husband got the Hot Wings (he is very picky about wings) and he said they were very good but the sauce is really spicy even for him who loves hot wings. This place was pricey for the quality of food and the servings are average. However the cashier was friendly and the restaurant itself is like a small, ocean themed diner and it is clean. It is a nice little place to stop for lunch and you can walk around to shops nearby.

We're always looking for a great seafood restaurant in Daytona Beach and after many years have found it. Hubby loves crabcakes and these are made from claw meat, almost entirely crab in the cake and delightfully seasoned. You get two very large crabcakes in the dinner which is reasonably priced (especially compared to Billy's). I love shrimp, scallops and grouper, all of which are delicious. We go there nearly once per week which is saying a lot since we only go out to eat once a week lately. The atmosphere is very laid back, the only drawback is the plastic chairs (our old bones need cushions). I highly recommend this place, we take our relatives there when in town. Everything is freshly made and delicious and the price is right! Bon appetite!

The best seafood. Our hotel manager recommended it and so glad he did. Easily could have driven by without seeing it, but soooo good. I had the blackened mahi mahi sandwich and my husband had deep fried salmon chunks with a sweet chili sauce. It's not on the menu but it's amazing. Definitely recommend, and worth coming back to daytona for!
